Reauthoring Teaching: Alternative Ways to Exist in the Neoliberal Academy
This session will invite faculty to discuss and deconstruct the common and master narratives of academia. Master narratives form a set of rules and left unexamined can create expectations which establish the “right” way to be an educator that often times do not fit for everyone. This disconnect between the rigid expectations of the master narrative and a faculty’s lived experience can lead to a host of negative emotional experiences. Participants will have an opportunity to re-story a preferred and personally inspiring narrative to lead to a more congruent faculty experience.
